Cigar Bar on 315 E Hyman Ave

I'm an old creep, but I love a good cigar, and I was amazed to find a cigar bar in the super healthy, super PC Aspen. I decided to take the plunge and walk the three blocks from the Hotel Durant to see what it was like. When I arrived, no doubt looking like a puzzled waif, the guys at the door seemed a little surly. However, when I stated my business and mentioned the cigar bar, they were super friendly and helpful. I made my way down a serpentine path, but their directions were exactly what I needed, and I arrived in a smallish, elegant space. The list of cigars isn't huge, maybe a dozen choices, all premium cigars. I ended up with an Ashton that smoked smoothly and evenly, evidence that their cigar storage is optimal. Another smoker offered me matches, but the bartender trumped her offer with a cedar strip to light my cigar. She was friendly and conversational. Other patrons were friendly and fun to talk to. The bar is also cigarette friendly. Some cigar smokers might object to that, but any port in a storm. All in all, it was a fun way to spend an hour with some good conversation, a good martini, and a good cigar. Update, August 8, 2017: Had another great time at the Cigar Bar. The bartender was friendly and fun. After I had enjoyed my martini and cigar, she suggested I head across the street to hear one of Aspen's local bands. The band was OK, but the conversation was amazing. It ended up being a truly memorable evening.

Very very disappointing. Extremely limited selection for a place called The “Cigar Bar”. No Maduros. No Padrons. Had a “Don Carlos” Belicoso. The bartender handed to me already cut. Poorly cut. (Cut was too small). You don’t actually select your cigar your self, any cigar newbie will tell you, don’t ever cut another mans cigar. This is simply a “Bar” that allows you to smoke cigars. On the flip side, Nice lighting, good sound system, Friendly patrons but definitely not a Cigar Bar for Aspen. My two cents!!!

First time visit to the cigar bar was over Ruggerfest weekend. Was very surprised to find any sort of public cigar friendly place in such a small town. Arrived shortly after 8 and stayed til 9 enjoying a short Macanudo. I will bring my travel humidor next time cause the selection is very small, less than 15 options. The bartender said that it is completely fine to BYOC. Would love to see them expand from their little humidor cabinet closet behind the bar to a walk-in sized humidor suited for customers. Bar menu had plenty of options. I chose Glenlivet 12 yr ($14). No food on the menu however there is a decent looking bar/restaurant and Mexican place under the same roof, all within 25 paces of eachother inside..... I had already eaten so I did not ask. Atmosphere and furnishings fall between western class and modern VIP nightclub. Low lighting, glass and copper ash trays, leather arm chairs, and upholstered sofas neatly arranged for small and large groups and mostly 90s and early 2000s pop hits playing. By 9pm, about 1/3 of the place was full and less than half were puffing an actual cigar... not my favorite but their could be no cigar bar at all. Would be great if they opened up earlier(4? 5?) with the lights on so one could conduct business and enjoy a smoke maybe with some old jazz, swing, classical playlist. Make the place feel more exlusive in some capacity-- cigar only "Members" area, cigar lockers, special events... just too much cigarette smoking going on.

Went in thinking this place would be a decent cigar lounge, and boy was I wrong. Reeked of weed and cheap cigars inside, cheap like Casa de Garcia cheap.... The place was absolutely packed with tons of college kids, loud as hell. If you're looking for a good reputable cigar lounge, keep looking because this place sucks.
